About GAMI

The Taiwan Myocardial Infarction Society (TAMIS) was established in response to the long-standing issue of cardiovascular diseases ranking among the top two causes of death in Taiwan, particularly the high mortality rate associated with myocardial infarction. The seriousness of this issue is reflected in the rising incidence of myocardial infarction, with an increasing number of younger patients affected. Given the acute nature of myocardial infarction, improving the quality of care has become an urgent priority.

Under the leadership of Dr. Wei-Chun Huang, a team of Taiwanese experts submitted an application to the Ministry of the Interior on June 17, 2020, to establish a nationwide professional association. The application was approved, and TAMIS was officially founded. The Society comprises 53 experts from various fields across Taiwan, including public health, emergency services, cardiology, emergency medicine, smoking cessation, nursing, cardiac surgery, rehabilitation, radiology, heart transplantation, catheterization technology, palliative care, critical care, and interventional therapy.

The inaugural General Assembly and International Academic Conference of TAMIS was held on March 28, 2021, with over 200 domestic and international experts in attendance. Government representatives, hospital leaders, and guests from related medical associations were invited to the opening ceremony, highlighting collaboration between academia and the healthcare sector. The conference featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and international expert exchanges.

The 2nd TAMIS General Assembly and International Academic Conference in 2022 centered around the theme “From the Heart, Immediate Rescue: Integrated Quality Care for Myocardial Infarction.” Renowned keynote speakers from various countries were invited, including Mr. Pa-Chun Wang, CEO of the Joint Commission of Taiwan; Prof. Jan Piek from the Netherlands; Prof. Lee Kang Yin from Hong Kong; Prof. Soon Jun Hong from South Korea; and Prof. Alan Fong, Chair of Malaysia’s National Coronary Registry. The program included paper competitions, case competitions, and joint symposiums with major medical societies, fostering academic and clinical collaboration.

The 3rd TAMIS General Assembly and International Academic Conference in 2023, themed “Big Picture, Deep Focus – A Comprehensive Exploration of Acute Myocardial Infarction,” invited a greater number of international speakers, such as Dr. Paul Ong, Chair of the Asia Chapter of the International Myocardial Infarction Organization, and prominent experts from South Korea, including Dr. Myung Ho Jeong and Dr. Jung Joon Cha. The event featured paper and case competitions, knowledge challenges on myocardial infarction, pre-hospital emergency care drills, and medication knowledge contests to further raise awareness and enhance the quality of care.

The 4th TAMIS Annual Meeting and International Myocardial Infarction Academic Conference took place from February 24 to 25, 2024, under the theme “Exploring the Heart, Challenging Myocardial Infarction.” For the first time, the conference was co-hosted with the Asia Primary Angioplasty Congress (APAC), welcoming internationally renowned speakers and deepening academic exchange and research on the prevention and treatment of myocardial infarction.

The TAMIS 2025 Fifth Annual Meeting and GAMI/TAMIS/SSL-AP International Congress took place in Taipei on April 12–13, 2025, under the theme “Healthy Taiwan — Smart, Precise, and Advanced Care for Myocardial Infarction.” Experts from Korea, Japan, Singapore, Yemen, Brunei, and Vietnam gathered to discuss the latest STEMI treatment strategies, emerging trends in interventional cardiology, and the optimization of regional cardiovascular systems. The congress featured international forums and interactive case discussions, successfully establishing one of Asia’s leading academic platforms for advancing acute cardiovascular care and cross-border collaboration.

The 2026 GAMI/SSL-AP/SCAI-Asia/TAMIS International Congress will be held on March 7–8, 2026, at the National Taiwan University Hospital International Convention Center in Taipei.

This congress will once again unite global leaders and experts in cardiovascular medicine, featuring distinguished speakers from Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Yemen, and many other countries. Together, participants will explore cutting-edge interventional strategies, innovations in STEMI management, and the optimization of regional cardiac care systems.

The scientific program will include high-impact keynote lectures, interactive case discussions, and joint forums with SCAI-Asia, offering attendees valuable insights into the latest advancements in acute MI management and system-wide quality improvement.

More than just a scientific meeting, this congress serves as an international collaborative platform bridging clinical practice, research, and policy. We warmly invite all professionals in cardiovascular care to join us in Taipei for this important event — to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and advance the mission of saving every heartbeat.
